A Decade of SteveKat

This was originally posted on instagram, but I wanted to share it here for my blog fam who aren't on social.

It was 2010 when we started dating. We were both 22, very serious very quickly, but didn’t get married until almost 27, which I recognize is still very young. I remember being “ready” to get married a year after we began dating, and it always felt so far away. We didn’t have the money, or the resources, or the individual direction we needed, so we waited. As hard as it was, I’m always so grateful we didn’t rush.

This photo was taken in late 2012, at the tail end of 2 1/2 years dating long distance. We used to joke about writing a book on how to survive a long-distance relationship, maybe someday we will. It really taught us so much about sacrifice & patience & true connection in a way that nothing else could. It was also good for us both to have time with family, friends, and to explore individual pursuits. It was hard as hell but so worth it. And in the end, it showed me how much value is found in the everyday moments of life. It’s not the vacations, or stuff, or money, or accomplishments. It is literally none of those things. It’s in the living, breathing joy of an ordinary day. ⠀

I was thinking about this last decade— in my feelings if you will, and I realized Steve has been there for it all. Every high & low, every victory and every crushing defeat. And it has truly changed me more than I could’ve imagined. What a gift to love and be loved by a person so special as this. What a freaking gift.⠀

These are a few of the highlights for us from the last decade. I shared them on my instagram stories, and saved them here in the 'Steve 2' highlights section of my profile.

Thanks so much for taking a trip down memory lane with me! Another highlight that was unrelated to Steve was my trip to Ireland. I shared about it here, and I did put together a vlog on my YouTube channel here if you want to check it out!

I would love to hear about a few highlights from your decade in the comments! Can't wait to share all the things in 2020. Grateful for you!

xo,

Katie
